That two-year-old boy reported missing by his mother Wednesday afternoon walked quite a distance from his home, but is now safe and reunited with his mother at 940 Smith Rd. in South Webster.

“The child was found at 8310 Bennett School House Road,” Scioto County Sheriff’s Captain Shawn Sparks said. “A lady had walked out to the back of her residence, heard something, and found him out behind her barn, missing on of his shoes. Apparently he had a small cut on his face and a tick on his hand. The squad checked him out and he was okay.”

Sparks said the boy went through some briars through some fields, but other than the small cut, seemed to have weathered the journey.

“He went a little ways before he was found,” Sparks said. “But through the fields and the pastures, he was fine.”

The sheriff’s office received a call from a female at approximately 12:32 p.m. Wednesday that her child had been missing for 30 minutes. They immediately dispatched their units to the scene and began the search.

On Thursday, Sparks expressed relief that the child had been located and took the time to thank everyone who had been involved in the search.
