On Tuesday the Scioto County Commissioners signed an amended agreement with Strand Associates to extend their involvement in the Eden Park Sanitary Sewer project June 30, 2014.
Mike Crabtree, Chairman of the Scioto County Commissioners said Strand Associates designed the Eden Park Sewer Project. He said Strand Associates are also the inspecting authority on the project.
“Since the project has run past its anticipated completion date, the additional time they (Strand Associates) have to spend on the project will be billed on an hourly basis. By their (Strand’s) estimate the project will be finished in June of 2014,” Crabtree said.
Crabtree said the original agreement with Strand Associates was for $343,000 in October of 2013 the agreement was amended to reflect an additional $162,000 bringing the total to $505,000.
With the amended agreement the commissioners signed on Tuesday reflects an additional $152,000.
Since beginning construction, the $2.3 million Eden Park Sewer System has seen its fair share of delays. The project was originally slated to be completed in August of 2013 and is now projected to be complete in July of 2014.
“They bumped it up again and now the completion date is the first part of July now. I was in a meeting yesterday where they talked about this,” said Doug Coleman, Scioto County Commissioner.
The projects original project completion date was Aug. 5, 2013.
When asked why they are so far behind schedule, Coleman had no comment at this time.
Once installed, the system will serve about 230 residents and businesses. The system will run along Ohio 139 and Munn’s Run northeast of New Boston.
