PSKC Crossfit believes that one of the prerequisites for healthy-living is proper nutrition, and that’s why they are host a Nutrition Seminar on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Dale King, owner of PSKC Crossfit, said the seminar will be nutrition-based information for healthier living.

“It will be a full-day long seminar covering the basics of nutrition, leaning towards whatever type of goal that you have, whether that’s performance-related, or weight loss, or eating to be healthier in general,” King said.

According to King, Jeremy Mullins, owner of Crossfit Thunder, will facilitate the Nutrition Seminar.

“Jeremy is a registered dietitian. He’s also a nutrition expert and he helps a lot of people to guide their nutrition towards performance or weight loss,” King said.

An abbreviated list of topics to be covered includePaleo diet and concepts, zone diet and concepts, supplements, personal diet (input) related to results (output) such as blood markers, body-fat, performance; and how to use the right foods at right times to increase performance, manage disease states, and decreasing body fat. King said the information shared in the seminar is critical for the local community.

“This event is extremely important to our community due to the fact that we are labeled as one of the most unhealthy counties in Ohio. People often look towards everything else except for their diet to get healthy,” King said.

He said the better choice would be to start choosing the right things to fuel one’s body.

“Once you start choosing the right things to fuel your body, then we can take care of sickness and disease for the most part through our diet. The problem is that it is confusing and tricky for many people. So what we want to do is give people that basic knowledge and understanding so that they can become a lot healthier,” he said.

King said PSKC seeks to help people implement lasting change in their lives.

“We don’t want you for four weeks, six weeks, we want you to make a complete lifestyle change so that you can feel better, look better. Once you feel better, you start having more confidence, and that self-confidence carries over to the rest of your life outside of the gym. That is what we are all about, helping people become stronger, mentally physically. All of that has to do with becoming a healthier person,” King said.

The seminar will also include a question and answer segment for information covered during the seminar. Registration fee is $75 for members, and $85 for non-members. The Nutrition Seminar is open to all, and will take place at the PSKC Crossfit facility located at 549 Third St., Portsmouth.
