The Bridal Expo is returning this year to the Southern Ohio Medical Center Friends Center — but originally scheduled for Jan. 26, the expo has been moved so to not conflict with another bridal expo in Huntington, W.Va.
“We moved the date it is now on Feb. 9,” said Kim Evans, Friends Center spokeswoman. “In the past it was always on the last Sunday in January, but we did not want to compete with the Huntington one like we had to last year.”
She said the finer details of the event are still being worked out. On Feb. 9, the event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.
“We are still lining up vendors, it (the event) will be here at the Friends Center. We have Georgia’s Bridal and Formal out of Hillsboro, (Ohio) doing the fashion show,” Evans said.
She said the reason all of the vendors are not setup is because they are still receiving calls from vendors wishing to take part. Evans anticipates those details will be worked our in the community days.
When asked who should attend the event Evans recommended the bride, groom, and anyone in the bridal party.
“Since it (management of the event) is being taken over by SOMC we are going to tie into the event a healthy bride initiative, so we’ll be checking blood pressure, the LIFE Center will be there to represent getting fit and the bridal boot camp they will be doing. We are doing all of this so brides can get ready for their big day,” she said.
The goal of the event is to have everything a bride would need to have a successful wedding.
“We’re looking to have photographers caterers, makeup artists, and people who do hair,” Evans said.
Based on the success of the event in previous years Evans said, the event will take up all three rooms of the Friends Center.
“In the past years it’s just been rooms a and b, we are expanding to three rooms this year hoping it’s going to be a very interactive event,” Evans said.
More details about the event will be forthcoming as the event draws closer.
