Scioto County Commissioner Mike Crabtree has a new title, President of the Southern Ohio Shrine Club. This will mark Crabtree’s second term as club president.
“I was installed last Thursday (Jan. 16) as president. We (Shrine Club) are the ones who raise money for the Shriner’s Hospitals and we’re the ones that wear the burgundy fez hats,” Crabtree said. “You’ll see us from time to time collecting money for that purpose (Shriner’s Hospitals).”
According to the Southern Ohio Shrine Club, “the local Shrine Club has been active in the community since it was chartered as a club in 1947.” Crabtree said the Southern Ohio Shrine Club is a small club, that works hard to achieve goals.
According to the Shrine Club, “the mission of the Shrine Fraternity is to support and raise funds for the Orthopedic Children and Children who have been burned by fire in the area. Any child transported to the Shriner’s Hospitals are treated and transported at no cost to the family.”
Other officers of the Southern Ohio Shrine Club include Vice Presidents Chris Goins and Dr. William Wolery, Secretary Jay Foster, Treasurer R. Michael Osborne. Members of the Executive Board are Mike Payton, Bob Kaylor, Rennie L. Osborne, John Underwood and Don Adams. Trustees include Roger Allen, Ron Gregory and James Elliott.
Any contributions to assist the club in their efforts can be sent SOSC Box 1052 Portsmouth, Ohio 45662. All donations are tax deductible.
