A Wheelersburg man is facing felony drug charges following a traffic crash Sunday morning in Scioto County. The driver, Joseph T. Adams, 25, is charged with possession of marijuana, a fifth degree felony and trafficking of marijuana, a third degree felony, and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, a misdemeanor.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said they responded to a report of a single vehicle injury crash on Lick Run Lyra Road in Wheelersburg at 2 a.m. Sunday. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by Porter Township EMS.
During their investigation, Troopers said they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a duffle bag containing nearly one pound of marijuana, with an approximate street value of $4,020, and $886 cash.
