In the midst of the Halloween season, Shawnee State Park will host the Un-Haunted Forest event Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Shawnee State Park Nature Center.

There will be no ghosts, no goblins, just nature and some its lively creatures in the Un-Haunted Forest. Instead, information regarding what’s not to be feared in the nocturnal forest will be shared.

Jenny Richards, Naturalist at Shawnee State Park Nature Center, said the Un-Haunted Forest is a non-spooky, family-friendly alternative to Halloween events that are deemed haunted.

Professionally guided night-hikes by lantern will enable participants to see live owls and other types of birds.

According to Richards, the walk through the forest will be short in length and endurable for all ages.

The event will also include campfire, stories, music, and snacks will be provided.

The public will also have an opportunity to learn about how Shawnee State Park was created by visiting the 1930s cabin.

Entry to the Un-Haunted Forest is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
