A Portsmouth woman is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop Monday evening in Scioto County.
Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they stopped a 2013 Nissan Murano on Ohio 104 in Lucasville, at approximately 5:32 p.m. for a moving violation. According to troopers, “criminal indicators” were present, and after questioning the passenger, whom troopers referred to as a known drug offender, he voluntarily forfeited two small bags of marijuana.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers said instruments of drug use were located in the driver’s purse. The driver, Randi Carr, 24, was placed under arrest and transported to the Portsmouth patrol post where troopers said she voluntarily forfeited approximately twenty grams of heroin which was concealed on her person.
Carr was charged with Possession of Heroin, a felony of the second degree, and was cited into Portsmouth Municipal Court.
