County adopts new dog and kennel license fees

Recently the Scioto County Commissioners passed a resolution adopting new dog and kennel license fees to the used at the Scioto County Dog Pound.
According to a bulletin the commissioners received from the County Commissioners Association of Ohio, “On Dec. 1, 2013, new provisions of law dealing with dog registration fees included in the state budget bill, House Bill 59, will become effective. The new law will provide dog owners will the option of purchasing one-year, three-year or permanent registrations for their animal beginning with the registration period on Dec. 1, 2013.”
Starting Jan. 1, 2014 the new fees for a one year dog license will be $12 per dog, A three-year license will be $36 and a permanent dog license will be $120. The kennel fee will be $40.
According to David Green, Scioto County Auditor, in 2012, 2,853 licenses were sold in Scioto County. Through July of 2013 2,473 licenses were sold thus far.
“They are trying to offer the people the option purchasing extended dog tags. This saves people from having to come in every year to do that,” said Mike Crabtree, Chairman of the Scioto County Commissioners.
