Earlier this week New Boston Mayor Jim Warren and Village Council hosted a breakfast for businesses within the village. This was the first time the village has hosted such an event, organizers are hoping to hold similar events in the future.
“We invited the businesses in to show our appreciation for being being in New Boston. We invited all of the business in and a lot of them showed up,” Warren said.
He estimated between 40 and 50 people in attendance. When asked what the reaction was like from the businesses Warren said, “they enjoyed it. They were all talking to each other and sharing information.”
Warren said he was not able to attend the event the entire time, because he had to preside over Mayor’s Court that morning. But he said the event was well received by those that attended, and they appreciated the opportunity to converse with other business people in the village.
“I thought the event was very successful. You’ve got to know your community and they’ve got to know the community too and I think that’s what it’s all about. We are thankful they are sharing their business with the village of New Boston,” Warren said.
Village Councilman Mike Payton said, “(the event) was sponsored by Mayor Warren and the New Boston Village Council to promote communication and cooperation among the businesses in New Boston and was our way of saying thanks for being in the village. I think it provided a medium for the various local New Boston businesses to get together, meet and share some experiences with each other and the village government.”
Warren said he hopes to have a similar event in the future inviting the churches of the village to breakfast.
