Holly Collett was crowned the 2014 Scioto County Fair Queen on Monday during the opening night of the fair.


Collett is the daughter of Roger and Rhonda Collett of Franklin Furnace. She has been involved in the Green Clovers 4-H club for the past 12 years and is a Senior at Green High School.


First runner up was Katie McQuithy, daughter of John and Stephanie McQuithy of South Webster. McQuithy is involved with the Showblenders 4-H Club and is a senior at South Webster High School.


Jordan Hileman, Megan Widdig and Jessi Wright were named princesses. Widdig is the daughter of Debbie and John Widdig of Minford. She is involved in the Green Clovers 4-H Club and is a senior at Minford High School this fall. Wright is the daughter of Dr. Larry and Jodi Wright of Wheelersburg. She is involved in the Green Clovers 4-H Club and is a senior at Wheelersburg High School. Hileman is the daughter of Ed and Robin Hileman of West Portsmouth. She is involved in the 4-H clubs Country Cousins and kids the Minford Dairy Club, and is currently attending Portsmouth High School as a Junior.


According to pageant officials, the contestants are judged in activities, achievements, interview skills, on stage presents and their ability to respond to a question. Based on the categories, the judges are able to determine the queen, first runner up and the fair princesses.


The 2013 Scioto County Junior Fair Queen was Abby Furhman. During the crowing of this years fair queen Furhman was given an opportunity to address those in attendance.


“I’ve have been so thankful for this great opportunity to represent the Scioto County Fair this past year. I have been provided so many great opportunities that I would have never had without it,” Furhman said. “I can’t believe it’s over and this is my last year of 4-H, being the queen has been the cherry on top (of her experience).”


Furhman’s court members included Hannah Davis, Baily Kaulitz, Brittney Keys and Lexi Witter.
