A three-vehicle crash on Scioto Trail, in Portsmouth, has sent one person to an area hospital for treatment.
Captain Jerry Leach of the Portsmouth Police Department said the crash occurred around 7:38 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Scioto Trail. Leach said, according to the police report, two cars were stopped in the left lane, northbound on Scioto Trail when another vehicle struck one in the rear, sending it into the front vehicle.
The front vehicle was a 2001 Chevrolet operated by Tracy Winters, 44, of Portsmouth, which was attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway. Directly behind the Winters car was another stopped vehicle, a 2000 Ford Expedition driven by Douglas Throckmorton, 51, of Portsmouth.
“A 2005 Jeep Wrangler operated by Rodney White, 44, of Lucasville, which failed to maintain an assured clear distance and hit the Throckmorton vehicle, and shoved it into the Chevrolet driven by Winters,” Leach said.
Theresa Throckmorton, 48, was a passenger in the Throckmorton car, and was transported by Portsmouth Ambulance Service to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Leach said Tracy Winters sustained possible injuries, but was not transported for medical care. Rodney White also received injuries, but he too was not transported from the scene. Douglas Throckmorton was uninjured.
