Cocaine, pills, marijuana, digital scales, cash and a firearm were all confiscated during the course of the arrest of a Portsmouth man on Thursday.
Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said at approximately 7:15 p.m. Thursday, the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with assistance from officers of the Portsmouth Police Department Patrol Division arrested Robert K. Clemens, 58, at his residence located at 1409 Franklin Ave., in Portsmouth.
An indictment warrant to arrest Clemens had been issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court on charges of trafficking and possession of cocaine, both felonies of the fifth degree, after a case against Clemens had been presented to a Scioto County grand jury by the task force and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office.
During a consensual search of Clemens’ residence at the time of his arrest, officers said they seized suspected crack cocaine, suspected Xanax pills, marijuana, digital scales, over $2,800 cash, a firearm, and additional evidence of drug trafficking.
Officers also seized Ohio Direction cards that had not been issued to Clemens.
Clemens was placed in the Scioto County Jail and is waiting to be arraigned in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
An additional case against Clemens will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of additional felony charges.
