The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the person killed in a two vehicle crash in Pike County as a child who was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Reagan Bloss, 11, of Beaver, Ohio, a passenger in a 2001 Jeep Wrangler operated by Amber J. Bloss, 34, also of Beaver, was pronounced dead at Pike Community Hospital.
The Chillicothe Post of the OSHP is investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash on Ohio 32 and Coal Dock Road at approximately 8:17 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the OSHP the Bloss vehicle was traveling southbound on Coal Dock Road, crossing Ohio 32, when it failed to yield the right of way to a 2004 GMC Sierra driven by Christopher T. Turner, 43, of Oak Hill, Ohio, traveling eastbound on Ohio 32, and the Turner vehicle struck the Bloss vehicle on the passenger side.
According to the OSHP the Bloss vehicle slid off the left side of the roadway and overturned onto its left side. The Turner vehicle came to rest on Ohio 32.
Weston Bloss, 8, and Emily Little, 12, both also of Beaver, were also passengers in the Bloss vehicle and were transported by Air Evac helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Amber Bloss was transported to Pike Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Turner refused treatment at the scene by Pike County Emergency Medical Services, but later was transported by family members to Holzer Hospital in Jackson, Ohio.
Troopers said the 11 and 12 year olds were not wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation. The Beaver Fire and Rescue, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Pike County EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted on the scene.
