A West Portsmouth man is charged with attacking his grandmother. Joshua Brian Horton, 29, of 1430 15th St., West Portsmouth faces a charge of felonious assault after being arrested Sunday.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office has been investigating a felonious assault case that took place Sunday evening.
Donini said the Scioto County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence in West Portsmouth stating that an elderly lady had been attacked by her grandson and she was bleeding and was covered in Kerosene. Donini said deputies and detectives responded and checked the victim and took her statement. He said family members took the woman to Southern Ohio Medical Center emergency room for treatment of her injuries.
Donini said deputies were told that the grandson lived with the victim and that an argument had occurred between the two over cigarettes and became violent. Deputies were unable to locate the grandson that evening, but he was located and arrested the following evening and taken into custody.
Horton was charged with Felonious Assault and arraigned in The Portsmouth Municipal Court Tuesday morning, and is currently being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Donini said other charges against Horton will be presented to the Scioto County grand jury.
Donini said anyone with information about the case should contact Detective Denver Triggs at 740-355-8245. He said all calls are kept confidential.
