A spokeswoman at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon that the names of the two people who died in a late Friday night Franklin Township fire are still not being released. Two bodies were removed from the house where the fire occurred and were transported to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s office for autopsies.
The Franklin Township Fire Department was called to the blaze located in the 2000 block of Cemetery Road shortly before midnight. Firefighters said when they arrived at the scene the house was fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire, the bodies were taken to Montgomery County and the names not released pending notification of family members. That remained the status into Saturday afternoon.
The Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office is handling the investigation into the blaze.
Assisting the Franklin Township Fire Department were Peebles, West Union, Scott Township, Wayne Township, Rarden and Sinking Springs fire departments.
