A partnership of the Lewis County, Ky. Sheriff’s Office, the Mason County, Ky. Sheriff’s Office, and the Maysville, Ky. Police Department, has come together to arrest three people on drug charges. Joe Asche, 54, and Jodi Fowler, 33, both of Plumville, Ky. and Paula Burriss, 38, of Tollesboro, Ky., are all charged with trafficking in a controlled substance - heroin.

Lewis County Sheriff Johnny Bivens said members of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were conducting undercover surveillance in the Tollesboro area Thursday evening when they reportedly observed what appeared to be a drug transaction in the parking lot of a Tollesboro business. Bivens said as the individuals were preparing to leave the parking lot, members of the Sheriff’s Office stopped them and confirmed their suspicions.

Bivens said the apprehension resulted in the recovery of 11 bundles of heroin, a large amount of cash, the seizure of two vehicles, and the arrests. Bivens said his deputies were assisted by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Maysville Police Department in executing a warrant at the residence of Joe Asche in Plumville.

In all, Bivens said agents recovered 12 bundles of heroin and digital scales. Bivens commended the three agencies for working together, referring to the situation as “a great working relationship.”
