Wayne Allen PDT Staff Writer Abigail Fuhrmann was crowned the 2013 Junior Fair Queen in ceremonies held Monday night at the Scioto County Fair. According to released information, Fuhrmann is the daughter of Paul and Leanne Fuhrmann of Wheelersburg and attends Minford High School. She is a member of the Green Sprouts 4-H Club. “I'm extremely ecstatic I got to be crowned the 2013 Scioto county Junior Fair Queen. This is a dream come true, I've been waiting for this day since I was little,” Fuhrmann said. “I am do glad I get to be a role model for all of the little girls now during the fair.” When asked what she was looking forward to the most during her reign as fair queen, Fuhrmann said, “I'm so proud to be wearing a crown and to represent the fair.” Fuhrmann's older sister Lora was fair queen in 2009. She said there is one more sister in the family that's younger than her. Mary Evans, a member of the fair queen committee, said the process of choosing a fair queen takes months to complete. “We have a 100-point system that we go by when the girls compete. It's whoever gets the highest score is crowned the winner,” Evans said. She said the competition is done in June in front of a panel of judges. After the competition is done, the judges pick a winner and seal it in an envelope that's stored in a safe until the first night of the fair, when the winner is crowned. “The winners will visit fairs prior to ours and they work the whole week of the fair doing shows,” Evans said. During the ceremony, Hannah Davis was crowned First runner-up with Bailey Kaulitz, Brittany Keys and Lexi Witter crowned court members.
