The St. Mary’s International Festival is set to begin Sept. 20 - 22. The theme of the event is food, fun, and fellowship, and will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church parish grounds in Portsmouth.
Rick Estep and Tim Paul serve as the co-chairs for the St. Mary’s International Festival, with a committee composed of 12 other members.
“We are going to have better Bratwursts this year. We are so excited about bringing in Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, who provides the “Hot Bahama Mama” Bratwursts and Johnsonville “Sheboygan” Bratwursts. We are upgrading some of the food, and trying some different vendors this year,” Paul said.
Paul said other activities for the festival include the Shriner’s Hillbilly Cruise-In on Sunday, a silent auction, and flea market-rummage sale.
“There is always something for the whole family to enjoy. We’ll have inflatables for the kids, as well as kids games. There will be a craft room and Quilt Show that will include a Quilt Raffle,” Paul said.
He said other activities will be the free Southern Ohio Medical Center Health Screenings from noon to 4 p.m., as well as a Church Tour on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
“The grand prize will include $2,000. One of our prizes is a treasure chest of goodies, which will include over $500 of local community coupons, and gift certificates,” Paul said.
He said the individuals do not have to be present to win a prize.
According to Paul all of the proceeds raised from the St. Mary’s International are disseminated to local charities.
“It is a great way to get everyone involved to raise money. All the funds go to local charities and our food bank, so it goes back into the community to help out,” Paul said.
Paul said the Festival is an event that many people enjoy and look forward to attending.
“A lot of the same people return to the Festival each year, so we must be doing something right. We are looking forward another great time this year,” Paul said.
According to Paul, the entertainment lineup will include:
Friday 6 to 9 p.m.
City Heat, and Gary Billups
Saturday noon to 9 p.m.

Amber’s Angel Cloggers
Amhran, featuring John Hogan, Jason Burton, and John Grubb
