The Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross announced exclusively to the Daily Times, the celebrity dancers for the 2017 Dancing With Our Stars.
The lineup includes Sean Boldman, Tarrah Bouts, Toni Dengel, Kemmely Hochstetler, Kevin Hoops, Rachel Perry, Eddie Philabaun, Bryan Smith, Stephanie Stanley and Jerod Walker.
According to released information, Dancing With Our Stars pairs local community personalities with a semi-professional dancer who will assist the star in the selection of music and choreography. The stars compete for votes in the form of donations to the Red Cross. One dollar equals one vote and the person with the most money raised will be awarded the Dancing With Our Stars Fundraising Mirror Ball trophy.
Debbie Smith, community executive of the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, said event organizers are still working on a professional partner for each of the celebrity dancers.
At the 2016 Dancing with our stars event, Nick Rutman won the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy. Collectively, the event raised more than $150,000 for the Red Cross.
The 2015 DWOS event raised more than $180,000 for the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Neal Hatcher, a local realtor, was awarded the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy by raising $106,000.
The official kickoff event for the 2017 Dancing with our stars will be held at the SOMC Friends Center on November 4 at 5 p.m. This event will introduce the celebrity dancers and their partners to the community.
“We think it’s (Dancing with our stars) going to be bigger this year, because we’re going into our (Red Cross) 100 year anniversary. We’re calling this the event of the century,” Smith said.
She said as apart of the event there will be a celebration of the American Red Cross and its 100th anniversary.
Funds raised will support of the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Funds raised allow the Red Cross to provide local disaster prevention, preparation and relief programs. The funding also allow for the continuation of training in first aid, CPR/AED classes as well as a number of other services and programs.
