Two arrested on drug charges

Authorities confiscated 37 grams of suspected heroin, 15 grams of suspected cocaine, two firearms, approximately $1,100 cash, digital scales and additional drug trafficking-related evidence, and arrested two individuals in the execution of a search warrant.

Gregory A. Brown, 60, and Joseph Kyle Jenkins, 19, were arrested and placed in the Scioto County Jail. Both Brown and Jenkins were charged with trafficking in heroin, a felony of the second degree. Brown was additionally charged with trafficking in cocaine, a felony of the third degree, while Jenkins was additionally charged with having a weapon while under disability, also a felony of the third degree.

Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said the two Portsmouth residents were arrested after a search warrant was executed at 2923 North Hill Road in Portsmouth, Thursday at 8:50 a.m. by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with the assistance of officers from the Portsmouth Police Department and detectives with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.

Brown and Jenkins were arraigned at 9:00 a.m. on Friday in Portsmouth Municipal Court.

The case will be submitted to the Scioto County Prosecutors Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of additional felony drug offenses.
