Law enforcement is searching for a subject they say stabbed two people late Tuesday night.

Suffering knife wounds were James David Bender, Sr., 36 and James David Bender, Jr., 17 of 15995 Ohio 104 in Lucasville.

According to Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies, they were dispatched to the Speedway Convenience Store in Lucasville in reference to a felonious assault complaint. Deputies said when they arrived they found David Bender, Sr. being treated by the Valley EMS Squad on a gurney and David Bender, Jr. holding a cloth on his left hand. Bender, Jr. told deputies who the person was who stabbed them.

According to the report the incident occurred at 160 Oakwood Ave. in Lucasville. The two were in the bathroom of the house when they said the assailant ran in and began stabbing them then fled the scene. Bender, Jr.’s friend transported the two victims to the Speedway and he then ran to the Valley Township Squad building for help.

The two were transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center and Bender, Sr. was later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus suffering wounds to the right back and upper right arm.

Witnesses at the scene identified the man they said attacked the victims. They reportedly told deputies they saw him enter the bedroom with an object in his hand and then turn and flee from the house.

Several deputies responded to the house on Oakwood to secure the scene of the stabbing and deputies went to check a possible location on Scioto Street where the suspect was believed to be, but they were unable to locate him.

While the suspect has been identified, he remained at large Wednesday morning.
