A former resident of New Beginnings Residential Treatment Facility has now been charged with a break-in at that facility.
Christian Welsh, 20, from the Circleville area was arrested on June 27 on unrelated charges but, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, subsequently confessed to the break-in.
Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader said on June 21 his office was informed of a burglary at New Beginnings, located at 2266 Wakefield Mound Road. He said surveillance video showed a masked suspect approach the building and break out an office window using tool found on the front porch of that facility. The video reportedly showed the suspect entering the office, taking several cartons of cigarettes and money.
Reader said his office received information from several anonymous sources as to the identity of the suspect seen on the video. Welsh, who had previously been a resident of New Beginnings, was said to have been the person responsible for the burglary.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office arrested Welsh on unrelated charges on June 27 and he is currently being housed at the Pickaway County Jail. Officers from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said they spoke with Welsh who made a full confession in the case.
Reader said some evidence from the burglary was collected at a residence in the Laurelville area. He said Welsh will face the Pike County grand jury in late July.
