Goodwill schedules 5K Run

The Good Run Will Change. Try saying that five times really fast. Or better yet, why not take part in the 5K Run for Goodwill Industries of Southern Ohio, Inc. on April 9? It’s The Good Run Will Change 5K Run.”

“Run with Goodwill Industries of Southern Ohio, Inc. to change a life,” Mary May, Goodwill Industries of Southern, Ohio, Inc. merchandising and marketing manager, said. “Everyday Goodwill is working to improve the quality of life for individuals who are disabled or disadvantaged by promoting self-sufficiency through our training and employment programs.Our Vocational Rehabilitation Program assist individuals with Job Seeking Skills Training, Job Coaching,and Community Based Assessment and Job Placement that helps to promote them into successfully employment within local businesses.”

The walk begins at the Goodwill corporate office at 324Chillicothe Street in Portsmouth. The 5K starts at 9 a.m. with open registration tables the day of the run from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. May said the entire course except for a small incline around the back of York Park.

“The race fee for that day is $25 if you wait until the day of,” May said. “I can actually sign people up online for $20 ($15 for 12 and under) through the mail-in registrants. If you have access to a computer you can preregister through tristateracer.com and go to the calendar and go to April. When you scroll down you will see on April 9 the Good Run Will Change.”

The mail-in application and waiver is available to download online, or may be picked up at the corporate office and book store, retail stores in Portsmouth, South Point, Gallipolis and Middleport in Ohio; Greenup and Vanceburg in Kentucky.

Checks should be made payable to Goodwill Industries of Southern Ohio, Inc. Checks, the completed application and signed waiver may be mailed to 324 Chillicothe Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
