The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the escape of a Scioto County man from the STAR Community Justice Center.

Jonathan Levi Bellar, 21, of Stagecoach Road in Athens, escaped from the facility, located at 4578 Gallia Pike in Franklin Furnace, at around 1 p.m. on Saturday, according to the official report.

The report says deputies were dispatched to the STAR Community Justice Center in reference to an escape. It goes on to say an officer at the facility was in the day room when he saw Bellar run outside to the recreation yard.

The officer reportedly told deputies he followed Bellar outside and witnessed him take two to three attempts before getting over the fence. The report goes on to say, after Bellar cleared the fence he ran into the woods.

The officer reportedly yelled, “Stop, it’s not worth it.” To which he said Bellar answered, “They are going to kick me out of STAR anyway so it didn’t matter.”

Bellar reported ran into the woods and the officer couldn’t locate him. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt.
