Most health professionals agree: the sooner illnesses are detected, the better the chances are for recovery. Compass Community Health Care Center is holding a free health screening event at Potter’s House Ministries, 5409 Winchester Ave., Sciotoville, Tuesday, July 21 from 9 a.m. until noon.

“We’re going to be doing blood pressure screenings and a medication review with our pharmacist who will be there to talk to you about your medication and interactions,” Gina Collinsworth, director of community relations and development for Compass Community Health and The Counseling Center, Inc., said. “Also there are a lot of community partners.”

Shawnee State University’s Respiratory Therapy program will perform respiratory screenings. The Area Agency on Aging, District 7 will offer general Agency information. Also on hand will be the Scioto County Health Coalition with education and information on healthful food and diabetes awareness information.

CareSource (managed care) will offer information on managed care benefits, while the Loved Ones Group from The Counseling Center will be offering free resources and education for families whose loved ones are struggling with addiction and Compass Community Health Care Center will offer blood pressure screenings and medication review and education with their pharmacist as well as making appointments for follow up and connecting with a primary care provider.

All of the groups participating will also have giveaways as well as balloons, door prizes, snow cones and family fun events for those in attendance.
