Barbour Auto Parts was established to meet the auto parts, paint and machine shop services of the community.
J.R. Holsinger, spokesman of the Barbour Auto Parts of Portsmouth, said they are always looking for ways to meet the evolving needs of consumers.
“Barbour Auto Parts has been serving the tri-state since 1962,” Holsinger said.
He said Barbour Auto Parts services a number of local garages and dealers, with their various parts needs. Holsinger said the same can go for the other Barbour Auto Parts locations in Lucasville, Jackson, and Ashland, Kentucky. At the Portsmouth location is an Auto Value Parts Store, specializing in automotive paint, parts and machine shop services.
“We have a new paint line called Axel Nobel Automotive Paint Products. In addition we carry a complete line including Sikkens, Lesonal, Nutech and Wanda Base Coat Finishes,” Holsinger said. “Axel Nobel is the company that makes all of these products, Sikkens, Lesonal, Nutech and Wanda Base Coat Finishes is paint that these garages and body shop people know.”
He said a number of the local body shops will use these types of paints when touching up a car or a total paint job.
“Axel Nobel has built its reputation on all on high quality products with unparalleled color match. These are widely used in North America buy some of the most prestigious shops that demand the most finish value,” Holsinger said.
Holsinger said these services were started at the Portsmouth Barbour Auto Parts in September of 2014.
“We’ve been a paint professional distributor for the last 50 years,” Holsinger said. Holsinger said they also started carrying a line of Malco Finished Products.
Malco Finished Products includes automotive waxes, cleaners and detail products to name a few. Holsinger said they just started being a distributor of Malco Finished Products a few months ago. He said there has also been the addition of heavy duty parts for semi’s, school buses and dump trucks to name a few.
Holsinger said they have parts the everyday person that works on their own car to body shops, and the employees of Barbour Auto Parts are constantly receiving training on the latest products and lines they offer.
“We have some guys that have been here for 40 years. We have one guy that’s been here since the (19) 70’s and is about to retire. We have a lot of experience with our staff,” Holsinger said.
Holsinger said with the products they specialize in, it sets them apart from other auto parts stores.Through their machine shop they are able to replace hydraulic hoses and a number of other services. They will also check and install batteries, install windshield wipers and a number of basic services at no charge.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday. Barbour Auto Parts of Portsmouth is located at 915 11th Street in Portsmouth and can be reached at 740-354-3144.
