A two vehicle crash occurred on State Route 32 at State Route 335 in Pike County, Ohio Friday night at approximately 9:57 p.m.
The crash involved Rickey Pennington II, age 16, of Beaver, Ohio, who was operating a 2002 Honda Civic southbound on State Route 335, when he failed to yield upon entering the intersection of State Route 32 striking a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Portsmouth local Eugene Collins JR, age 43.
Upon emergency services responding to the scene, Collins was transported to the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson and later flown by Med-Flight to OSU Medical Center.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Collins was currently in critical condition. A representative of the Ohio State University Medical Center reported that he was still in their services as of Saturday afternoon, but could not comment on his state of health.
Pennington refused treatment at the scene of the accident.
Beaver Fire Department, Stockdale Fire Department, Pike EMS, Portsmouth EMS, and the Pike County Sheriff Department all assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation through the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
