In 2016, two of the three Scioto County Commissioners seats are up for reelection, along with many other county offices.

The filing deadline for candidates is Dec. 16, and seven people have indicated interest in the seats, according to courthouse filing records.

The commissioner seats up for reelection are currently occupied by Mike Crabtree and Doug Coleman.

The seat currently held by Coleman has three people who have filed petitions to be a candidate.

Those seeking the office are Republican Doug Coleman and Democrats David Malone and Ryan Ottney.

If no other candidates file and petitions are certified, there will be a Democrat primary with the winner facing Coleman in a November General Election.

For the seat currently held by Republican Mike Crabtree, he is the only one who has filed petitions. Three others have taken out petitions seeking the office. Those seeking the office include, Democrat Tom Davis, Democrat Kevin W. Johnson and Republican Jerry Skiver.

Should those seeking the office file petitions and become candidates there would be Democrat and Republican primaries with the top two vote getters facing off in a November General Election.

Dr. Darren Adams has taken out petitions seeking reelection to the office of Scioto County Coroner.

Scioto County Engineer Craig Opperman has taken out petitions seeking reelection.

Lisa Novinger has filed petitions for the office of Scioto County Clerk of Courts, which she currently occupies.

For Scioto County Sheriff Democrat Steve Goins has filed petitions and current sheriff, Marty Donni, has taken out petitions.

Bill Ogg has filed petitions for the office of Scioto County Treasurer, which he currently holds.

Gail Alley has taken out petitions to return to her job as Scioto County Recorder and Mark Kuhn has filed petitions seeking reelection to the office of Scioto County Prosecutor.

For the office of Fourth District Court of Appeals Judge, Republican Matt McFarland has filed petitions seeking reelection. Democrat Paul Price has filed petitions; Democrats Ruth Buckler and Valarie K. Gerlach have taken out petitions seeking the office.

If Buckler and Gerlach file petitions, there will be a Democratic Primary, with the winner facing McFarland in the November General Election.

This list of candidates does not account for those who took out petitions online. Those petitions would only become known as the filing deadline draws near.
