A portion of U.S. 23 in Scioto County was shut down for a period of time Thursday night following a two vehicle injury crash. At approximately 8 p.m., The Portsmouth Dispatch Center received a report of an injury crash on U.S. 23.

A 2014 Ford F150 driven by Darrell Arbaugh, 53 of Lucasville, was traveling North on U.S. 23 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway. Mr. Arbaugh’s vehicle struck a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier occupied by Lori Green, 36 of Columbus, Ohio which was sitting stationary on the berm of U.S. 23 just south of the intersection of Cook Road. Arbaugh’s truck rolled over and came to rest on top of the Cavalier.

Arbaugh was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by Valley Township EMS then flown to St. Mary’s Hospital where his condition is currently unknown. Green and her passenger, James Daniels, 54, of Grove City, Ohio were flown from the scene by HealthNet and AirEvac to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Their condition is also unknown at this time.

The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by Valley Township Fire Department and EMS, the Rubyville Fire Department and Clay EMS.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
