GRAYSON, Ky. — The Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. (GGAC) is announcing the most recent addition to its arts programming – the GGAC Art Classes & Workshops.
According to Dan Click, GGAC coordinator, the new addition is an arts-education component that will be facilitated by educator Valerie Everman, along with her son Austin Everman. Click said the Evermans’ partnership accentuates the gallery, collaborating experience with youth.
“We have been building support for adding an arts-education component to the Grayson Gallery and Art Center over the past couple of years,” Click said. “Retired from the public-education sector, teacher Valerie Everman approached the GGAC about teaching classes along with her son, Austin, a recent Morehead State University Art Major. They work as a team and will bring both experience and a youthful approach to gallery classes and workshops and will add more options on types of instruction in the coming year.”
The next venture is the Gingerbread House Workshop, which will offer two dates for instruction: Saturday, Nov. 28 starting at noon and again on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost for the workshops are $20 for those who pre-register or $25 at the door. All materials will be provided for these make & take” workshops.
In addition to the visual arts classes planned in the future, (including photography with Chris Hayes) the gallery will soon be offering opportunities for musicians to drop in for jam sessions and future classes in learning to play various musical instruments like guitar and percussion on open Saturdays.
