One of longtime mayor Jim Warren’s favorite annual events was when he brought the community together for breakfast during the holiday season. Warren passed away several months ago, and New Boston Village Council and current mayor Junior Williams has decided to rename the event the James Warren, Jr. Breakfast with Santa, to be held on Saturday morning Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m at the New Boston Community Center.

Village Councilman Mike Payton said the breakfast will, as usual, consist of sausages, pancakes, orange juice, milk and coffee. Santa Claus will be available with free gifts for the children and everyone is invited.

That same day, beginning at 5 p.m., will be the annual New Boston Christmas Parade. The parade will start at the New Boston Mall as always, travel east on Rhodes Avenue from the mall to Lakeview, north on Lakeview to Gallia, west on Gallia to West Avenue, south on West Avenue to Rhodes Avenue and east on Rhodes Avenue to the fire station where, hot chocolate, cookies and Santa Claus will be available for the children. There is no entry fee for the parade and all area churches, fire departments, police departments, businesses (both in New Boston and elsewhere), boy/girl scout groups and government agencies are welcome to participate. No tractor trailers are permitted however. Any group that wishes to participate in the parade is asked to be at the New Boston Mall parking lot at 4:00 PM for line-up.
