The Kentucky State Police have arrested Elmer Kazee, 61, of Greenup Kentucky, for murder, after conducting an investigation into a reported shooting. The victim of the shooting was Shane Kazee, 41, son of the shooter.

The report came from Elmer Kazee himself, on Tuesday, October 29, after he committed the act on his property on Short Branch Road.

Troopers responded to the residence and discovered Gregory Shane Kazee dead, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Due to circumstances surrounding the shooting, a search warrant was obtained for the residence.

“We were not able to get any information in the beginning stages from Mr. Kazee, which is a part of the reason why we had to get a search warrant and go through things in that direction,” Trooper Michael Murriel explained.

During the course of the investigation, evidence was obtained, which conflicted with the initial reports made by the shooter.

Elmer Kazee was then arrested, taken to the Greenup County Detention Center, and charged with murder.

No further information on what caused the incident, or how things transpired after the call to 911 took place, is being released at this time, as it is still pending investigation by Detective Daniel Cook.
