Work on the Portsmouth bypass project continues to create the need for motorists to be aware of closings and restrictions. Temporary lane restrictions will be in place this week on U.S. Route 23 in Scioto County as part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project.

Wednesday and Friday, October 28 and 30, crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) will close the driving lane of southbound U.S. 23 just north of Lucasville to place a barrier wall along the roadway’s shoulder where interchange construction is under way.

Also on Friday, the PJV crews will close the driving lane of northbound U.S. 23 North to place barrier wall along one side of the route and adjacent to the construction site just north of Lucasville. Traffic should be restored to two lanes in either direction by early evening hours on both days.

The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
