A teenager is facing charges of improper Handling of firearms in a motor vehicle after an apparent shooting incident on Tuesday.

According to the official report at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 9300 block of Gallia Pike in Wheelersburg in reference to a discharging of a firearm complaint.

When deputies arrived at the scene a man told them a 16 year old relative had fired a gun multiple times. The man said he knew the boy had a handgun in his toboggan, so he pulled the subject from his vehicle. He went on to say, when the teen got back in the vehicle and he, the witness, turned to walk away, he believes the teen fired 12 shots from a 9 millimeter handgun as he was pulling out of the driveway.

The man said he picked up 11 empty cases from the ground next to the driveway. He further told authorities no gunshots hit his house or anything else, leading him to believe the youth shot into the air.
