The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of the 1200 block of 14th Street at about 9:54 p.m. Tuesday night. The victim in the shooting has been identified as Terrell E. Mabry, 24, of Trotwood, Ohio. Officers of the Police Department were called to the area on a report of multiple gunshots being fired. Upon Officer’s arrival they were told that there was at least one victim of the shooting, Mabry, and he was already on his way to the hospital.

Several witnesses to the shooting were interviewed and Officers were told that the victim, Mabry, had been involved in an argument with a group of subjects and that during the argument someone pulled a gun and began firing rounds.

Mabry was struck in the left tibia, right hand and in the stomach. He was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for initial treatment and then flown to the trauma unit at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

Several spent bullet casings were recovered from the shooting scene along with other physical evidence.

The investigation is continuing and Officers are looking at a couple of subjects who may have fired the rounds. Police are continuing to interview additional witnesses and ask that anyone with information that may be related to the shooting to contact Lt. Mike Hamilton or Officer Chris Kelley of the Portsmouth Police Department Detective Division. They can be reached by calling 740-354-1600 or 740-353-4101.

The last check of Mabry’s status showed that he is still listed in critical condition at St. Mary’s.
