The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has received the report of another scam, this time through the computer.

According to the official report, a Powellsville, Ohio woman received a call on Friday from a man with a foreign accent telling her she had been hacked and that he was from Windows. He reportedly told her she could have it fixed or the FBI would lock up her computer.

The victim reportedly logged onto the computer and the man gave her a set of numbers to log onto. Once she logged onto the computer, she was locked out of her computer. The man reportedly told her that it would cost her $200 to unlock the computer.

The victim stated around Sept. 18 she had money taken from her bank account and that incident may have been tied in with this most recent incident.
