The eighth annual South Shore Quilt and Heritage Festival line up of entertainment continues to get bigger and better. The event features live entertainment, this year Cody Wickline, a contestant on the popular television show, “The Voice” is scheduled to perform.

Staci Warnock, one of the Quilt Festival coordinators, said the event committee is excited about featuring Wickline in the lineup of entertainers.

“We have a special treat this year,” Warnock said. “Cody, who was one of the musical contestants on the show that so many people around here watch called, The Voice, is going to be performing live at the Quilt Festival on Saturday, at 1 p.m. We are really excited about having him, and all of our musical guests.”

Saturday has been designated at country-bluegrass Day of the Quilt Festival.

“We are dedicating Saturday of the Festival to country-bluegrass from start to finish.” she said. “We have always had some country music and blue grass, but it has always been a mixture of rock bands, with them all kind of mixed in together. However, this year we decided to make one whole day all country-blue grass.”

She said country-blue grass is very popular in the South Shore, Ky., area.

“People in this area here over here, for the most part, like that kind of music,” she said. “We get a lot of older people that come to the Quilt Festival, that really are not interested in the rock music. So, in our efforts to accommodate the most popular choices in music, we wanted to have music that everyone would have a chance to enjoy for a good while. We do have some rock bands, and they are going to be playing on Friday evening, and I am sure that everyone will enjoy it all.”
