The Scenic Scioto Heritage Trail Committee and the Portsmouth Rotary Club are collaborating to host the Scenic Scioto Heritage Trail Tour event. Reece Brown, of the Portsmouth Rotary Club, said this will be their first attempt at an event of this kind.

“It is a bicycle tour of the scenic Scioto heritage trail, and is a collaborative effort between the Scenic Scioto Heritage Committee and Portsmouth Rotary,” Brown said. “This will be the first time that we have done this type of event, but I think it will be a great event for the community.”

According to Brown, the purpose of the event is to engage members from the local area in the activity of cycling, and to promote the are to those outside of the area.

“We want to encourage cycling in the region as well, and to promote our area to people from out of town, and to promote cycling to people from our area,”he said.

The tour will begin at Northwest High School. There are three distance options, 12 mile, 35 mile, and 83 mile tours. There is no entry fee, pre-registration may be completed at www.active.com. Pre-registered participants may purchase t-shirts for $20. Dinner will be provided by The Scioto Ribber at the cost of $20.
