According to reports from Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, three people have been arrested after drugs and cash were seized during a multiple agency investigation that was initiated on Sept. 1, 2015.

Authorities said during the late evening of Sept. 1, 2015, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle occupied by Natalie J. Moore, 30, of Fountain Ave., Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and Cassie D. Hall, 30, of Timmonds Avenue, Portsmouth, on US Highway 23 in Lucasville.

Troopers seized approximately one hundred grams of suspected heroin, thirty grams of suspected crack cocaine, and over $1,200 cash during the stop.

Upon request, officers from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force responded to further investigate. Task force officers with assistance from officers of the Portsmouth Police Department visited a residence located at 1609 Summit Street in Portsmouth.

Reports reveal that a consensual search of the residence was conducted, in which officers seized additional suspected heroin and crack cocaine, digital scales, over $8,000 cash, and a custom chopper motorcycle.

Moore was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin, a felony of the first degree, and trafficking in cocaine, also a felony of the first degree. Hall was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant that had been issued out of Lawrence County, Ohio. The Scioto County Common Pleas Court Adult Probation Department also placed a holder on Hall.

Christopher L. Eckstein, 36, also of the Fountain Avenue Washington Courthouse address, was arrested from the Summit Street residence on an outstanding felony arrest warrant that had been issued out of Fayette County, Ohio.

Moore, Hall, and Eckstein were arrested and lodged in the Scioto County Jail.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and the case will eventually be submitted to the Scioto County Prosecutors Office to be presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury for the consideration of additional felony drug offenses.
