Three vehicle crash downtown

While the drivers appeared to be shaken up, it appears no one was seriously injured in three vehicle crash at the intersection of Seventh Street and Washington Street in Portsmouth Thursday afternoon. The intersection is one that has been addressed in editorial comments by the Daily Times in which two dangerous situations exist.

The Daily Times, in a column last year called attention to the fact that people park on the yellow curb in front of Toro Loco nearly every day. A reporter actually reported the danger to Portsmouth Police, and waited until the driver left the restaurant, seeing no visible response by the city.

Another hazard appears to be a place that allows people to park on the sidewalk at an egress from Toro Loco. On Thursday afternoon a vehicle was parked there blocking any ability to see north on Washington Street.

No details were available on the crash, but the Daily Times did issue a public records request for the report on the crash and a two year records of crashes that have occurred at that intersection.

More details will be available later.
