There are two words that mean so much to me. The words are family time. Time allocated for spending quality time with family, and it doesn’t have to cost one cent. Over the winter holidays, I was blessed to spend an unusually large amount of time with my own family, my husband Mark, and our three, adult children. All of our children are in college, our oldest daughter Jori is in graduate school, our daughter Pajah just completed undergraduate school, and our son Micah is a sophomore in college, so you can imagine our time with them is very limited. During the Christmas season however, we had a blast! We swam together, and worked out at a local health facility, played good ole’ Monopoly and Scrabble. In addition to this we enjoyed keeping Kwanzaa, a seven-day celebration of unity in families. Another highlight of our family hangout time, was our annual family photographs. During that time we laughed, it was such a warm, tender time that was just so special. At home and in the car, we sang songs, prayed together and took a few short trips together. Family is such an amazing gift from God. Sometimes we are deceived by thinking time with family has to cost a tremendous amount of money, but the Williams can surely tell you it does not. Henceforth, as a result of our time together, we have more precious memories to store up and treasure. I encourage you in this new year to embrace family time. Don’t utilize a bunch of excuses, just do it, you will be so glad that you did, and your memories will last a life time.
