Where have you been? Hilltop Cafe and Deli has been open at 1406 Kinney’s Lane since April and it is hard to overcome reports that the restaurant is closed. That’s what Lynn Bratchett and Anita Charles have been up against. Hilltop is located in the former Hatti Beasley’s location, and it has a full line of goodies for everyone’s taste, but on Monday, Nov. 7, they had a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Lisa Carver and Rick Morgan of the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.

Hilltop Cafe and Deli is a family operation. Anita’s daughter, Hollie Charles is part of the wait staff, while Lynn’s son, Seth Bratchett is the delivery driver.

Hilltop has a full breakfast menu as well as a full lunch menu.

“We have homemade desserts. We have homemade chicken salad, ham salad, egg salad, tuna salad, wraps, soups,” Bratchett said. “We have salads and everything is homemade.”

Other items include the turkey club, Easy’s Cheesy, the chicken breast club, turkey and swiss, the italian sub, roast beef, grilled ham and cheese, the BLT and much more, including a line of wraps such as the veggie wrap, the turkey club, chicken and swiss and roast beef. When it comes to soup, it’s chili and soup du jour. Just ask. The dessert line is too numerous to begin to list, but it is right there on display. They also want potential customers to know they have their own rotisserie oven, and yes, they have coffee.

Charles said they have not perfected their flavored coffees yet, but they are well on their way.

“SOMC (Southern Ohio Medical Center), King’s Daughters, those are our regular customers,” Charles said.

They’re open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We have a convenient drive-thru window,” Charles said. “People can call ahead to 740-529-1181 and we’ll have it ready for you. We also offer a free delivery service 11-2 Monday through Friday.”

In addition, Bratchett said they rent out the facility for holiday parties. Just call them and set up a date.

So if you were like many other people in the area and thought that restaurant was closed, nothing could be further from the truth. They have been open since April and they invite you in to check out their menu and service, or to call and pick it up through the drive-thru. You can even get your order delivered.

Contrary to what you have heard, Hilltop Cafe and Deli at 1406 Kinney’s Lane is open for breakfast and lunch five days a week.
