Pike County Fair, fun for everyone

This year’s Pike County Fair is set to take place through Aug. 8, 2015 at the Pike County Fairgrounds, 311 Mill Street, in Piketon.

On Friday, July 31, the only event on the schedule is Harness Racing in the Grandstand at 5 p.m. Harness Racing is schedule to continue at noon on Saturday, Aug. 1. If the Friday races get rained out, the racing will start at 9 a.m. instead of noon. A tug-a-truck is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. in the Grandstand.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, a Gas, Diesel and Truck Pull is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. in the fair grandstand. At 4 p.m. a pleasure horse show will take place in the Horse Show Arena, 4-H Booth Judging will take place in the Art Hall at 6 p.m.

To finish out the day in Sunday the Jr. Fair Board will host a FUN Contest in the AE Blaum Arena from 7 – 8 p.m.

On Monday, Aug. 3, Clover bud interviews will take place from 2 – 4 p.m. A Pledge and demonstration contests will take place in the Multi-purpose Building at 2 p.m. A contest Horse Show will take place in the Horse Show Arena at 4 p.m.

Nutrition Awards, Still Projects Awards, Style Review and Scholarship Awards will be given out in the fair grandstand from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The annual parade of clubs will take place at 7 p.m. and the Pike County Jr. Fair Royalty Contest will take place at 7:20 p.m. in the grandstands.

Tuesday highlights include, a Dairy Cattle Show in the Multi-Purpose Building at 2 p.m. a swine skill-a-thon will take place in the multi-Purpose Building from 2:20 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

A 4-H and Sr. Fair Board Bake-Off Auction will take place in the Multi-Purpose Building at 4:30 p.m. Other activities for the say include Gospel Singing at 7 p.m. and a local talent music festival in the fair grandstand at 8 p.m.

Schedule highlights or Wednesday, Aug. 5, include a breeding rabbit show in the A.E. Blaum Arena at 9 a.m. a beef breeding show in the multi-purpose building at 5 p.m. and Dustin Lynch as the evening entertainment at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. there is an OSTPA Tractor Pull at the fair grandstands. This is also senior citizens day at the fair.

On Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. is “Cyclemania” Bicycle Races, at 5 p.m. there will be a livestock sale in the Multi-purpose building with a demolition derby taking place in the grandstands at 7 p.m.

There will be an arm wrestling contest at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, in the A.E. Balum Arena. Rounding out the fair’s schedule for the week at 7 p.m. there will be a demolition derby in the fair grandstands.
