People who know Angela Ward know she has always had an agenda. “I just want to bring community togetherness,” Ward said in announcing the event Praise in the Park to be held in Tracy Park sponsored by Living With a Cause, Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and is free.

“We’re going to have a concert. It’s going to be a community praise and worship,” Ward said. “We’re going to give out school supplies while they last. The goal is to cook 400 hot dogs, so we’re going to give out hot dogs, chips and soft drinks to everyone.”

Ward said the reason Tracy Park was chosen was because it tends to be a place where homeless people congregate.

“I’m hoping anyone who is hungry will come and eat,” Ward said. “I think I’ll put up signs a couple of days before.”

Ward said the event is in line with community programs Living With a Cause always supports.

“I was just hoping for some community togetherness and love,” Ward said. “It’s a way to have a concert and worship and to show how much people care.”

Ward said, this is the time of year when families are planning for back to school and since there are families that can’t afford school supplies, Living With a cause has assembled 150 bundles of schools supplies and plans are to place a bible with each bundle. Any supplies left over will go to children in the Green Township school system.

Living With a Cause has been named as a recipient of the American Red Cross Community Hero Award. According to award information, Living With a Cause does multiple fundraisers and community events to support children in our area, and local military personnel and their families. They also operate Living With a Cause Theater on Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg.
