Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman stated on October 28, 2022 at 4:32 pm his office received a call that a male subject at 67 Cave Lick Road, West Portsmouth would not let her mother leave. The caller advised that the male, her father, had a gun.

FRIENDSHIP – The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an ATV crash which occurred on Friday, October 21, 2022, at approximately 9:01 PM. The crash occurred on US 52 near milepost 13, in Nile Township, Scioto County. A 1998 Honda TRX 300 was traveling southwest when it overturned. The driver, Austin Newman, age 24, of Friendship, Ohio, and his passenger Catherine Shear, age 25, of Chillicothe, Ohio, suffered serious injuries. Both occupants were transported by helicopter to Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

One of the biggest days of the year is here for the Scioto Foundation and an unprecedented number of nonprofit organizations in the local area. October 20 is the date for the Scioto Foundation’s one-day giving campaign, Scioto Gives, when 46 participating nonprofits eagerly anticipate donations from generous residents, businesses, corporations and other entities in the community and beyond which will help their efforts to improve the quality of life in Scioto County.

On Thursday, October 6, 2022 at approximately 2:14 p.m. officers were called to 2484 Mabert Road in Portsmouth in reference to a male that had been shot. Upon officer’s arrival, the victim was found outside on a front porch with a gunshot wound to his groin area. The victi was immediately transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) by Portsmouth Fire Department. SOMC treated the victim and were able to get hi sbale enough tto be transferred to a trauma center in Columbus.

Sheriff David Thoroughman stated that his office received a report on October 4, 2022 from a parent stating that her underage son had been sexually assaulted while out of town in Virginia.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A grand jury in Ohio has indicted the man accused of raping and impregnating a 10-year-old girl who traveled to Indiana for an abortion that became a flashpoint in the national debate over access to the procedure.
