Free summer immersive STEM program for students in grades 6-8 at SSU
PORTSMOUTH- Shawnee State University is partnering with Verizon and the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) to offer a free project-based immersive STEM program, Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers, for middle school students starting June 10.
Meadows to serve remainder of sentence at STAR
SCIOTO COUNTY- A local man convicted of two counts of sexual battery was in court this week for a judicial release hearing. Instead of being released into the general public, he will continue serving out the rest of his term at STAR Community Justice Center.
Alley, Jenkins, Mault are candidates for Scioto County Recorder’s Race in 2024 Primary Election
SCIOTO COUNTY- While leaders like county commissioners, judges, the sheriff, and others are often a focal point when considering how well the local government is functioning. There are many other offices just as important in keeping the operations of the county successful. One of those offices includes the Scioto County Recorder’s Office. The seat is up for vote in 2024 and the primary will determine who will lead the race for the Democrats and Republicans.

Stiltner pleads to reduced charge in 2018 shooting death
PORTSMOUTH- A local man who appealed his aggravated murder conviction to the Supreme Court of Ohio and whose retrial ended in a hung jury has pleaded to a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. He is expected to be released soon.
Green Twp. park named for prolific local figure
PORTSMOUTH- The park on the Ohio side of the Greenup Dam now has a name, and it’s one steeped in Green Township history.
Bobst pleads, gets 15 to life for rape
A year after the original charges were filed, a Wheelersburg man charged with the rape of a young girl has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
Ky. House continues to pass legislation as session dwindles
Throughout the last week, the Kentucky House of Representatives considered several pieces of crucial legislation that I believe set the Commonwealth on a path to a stronger future. Scioto County receives StormReady renewal
SCIOTO COUNTY- The National Weather Service in Wilmington has informed Scioto County Emergency Management Agency that Scioto County has successfully completed all the requirements for its StormReady renewal.
