Richardson previously worked as managing editor at the Greene County Dailies near Dayton. He left Ohio to accept a position as a city editor at the Panama City News Herald in Florida. He has returned to Ohio to be near family.
“Josh has a lot of experience both in Ohio and out of state with newspapers of various circulations, and this experience will serve him well in the Portsmouth market,” said Daily Times Publisher John Clark.
As managing editor, Richardson said the Daily Times has lots of potential, and he is excited to be a part of the team. He said he enjoys being hands-on with the process of reporting and publishing local news.
“I know that this position is going to be a lot of work, and I enjoy that,” Richardson said. “The Daily Times editor is a big job but I’m confident I can help build on the proud tradition of this newspaper.”
He has moved into the Wheelersburg area and said his family will join him in the near future. He also looks forward to being an active and visible part of the community.
“The editor is the No. 2 person in the newspaper, next to the publisher, as far as needing to be involved in the community and being the face of the newspaper,” he said.
In his spare time, Richardson enjoys outdoor activities and he looks forward to taking advantage of all the opportunities southern Ohio has to offer, including golfing, camping and boating.
“We’re glad to have him onboard and I urge people to stop in and say hello, or introduce themselves if they see him out on the street,” Clark said.
