A date has been set for the possible death penalty trial of a Scioto County woman charged with killing three people in December 2008.

Kara Garvin, 30, of 3407 Back Road, Franklin Furnace will go on trial Feb. 19, 2010, in Judge Howard H. Harcha III’s Court, for the murders of Edward D. Mollett, 46, and Juanita F. Mollett, 43, of 287-C Snook Road, and 20-year-old Christina J. Mollett, 1602-A Junior Furnace Road.

Garvin is charged in an 18-count indictment with specifications — nine counts of aggravated murder. Although there were only three murders, there were nine counts for alleged violations of the aggravated murder statute.

Garvin had been scheduled to go on trial Nov. 9, but the case was continued.

“She was also indicted on a separate charge involving a Nov. 26 incident that was recently referred to the sheriff that involved allegations of attempted murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and other charges,” Kuhn said at the time. “It was a robbery out there involving a couple of other folks by the name of Mollett related to the victims that were murdered. They (the victims) didn’t report it until the murders.”

Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn said the trial had been continued pending the test results of evidence.
