Former Portsmouth High School and Penn State standout Gerald Cadogan agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday, just a week after being released by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cadogan takes the practice squad spot of Corey Clark, who was signed to the 53-man roster.

“I just want to give a shout out and thanks to all of my supporters who were calling me last week,” Cadogan said. “This is a crazy business. I’m just thankful to have a job right now... and am just taking it one day at a time.”

The Chargers called Tuesday just after Cadogan worked out with the Bills. He flew west that night and worked out Wednesday morning before signing.

With the change of scenery came a number change for Cadogan. His 76, which he had worn for years, is in use by 12-year veteran defensive tackle Jamal Williams.

Cadogan said he "took 76 and did one better" in selecting 77 as his jersey number.

You go Gerald!! We're all behind you and praying for you. Remember Hebrews 10:36 "You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised."

Keep up the good work and never give up!
